Acid neutralizing
capacity of Antacids
In the case of antacids, the acid neutralizing capacity is
important. This may be determained by allowing the antacid to remain in contact
with 0.1M hydrochloric acid at 37⁰C in a thermostatically controlled
bath and measuring the pH at successive time intervals. Finally the
concentration of the acid is out by determining the remaining acid by titration
with 0.1M sodium hydroxide after one hour.
